Most people in San Francisco at one time or another complain about the actions of the Board of Supervisors, but not too many of us pay attention to why the Supes move in one direction or another. Columnist C.W. Nevius in the S.F. Chronicle this morning points out how important it is to pay attention to all elections–not just the big ones that get lots of coverage. The little-known organization the DCCC (Democratic County Central Committee) plays a big role in choosing who will run in our local races. Anyone interested in what’s happening in San Francisco’s city government should keep on eye on who is being elected to that committee. And on June 8–go out and vote. As the League slogan says “Democracy is a participatory sport” It’s time for all of us to participate.
